Rema Abedkader Founder and CEO, of Aparellel. She has a knack for being creative and solving everyday problems, she believes in ethical manufacturing practices and making the world a better place.
Rema always had a knack for fashion, when she was just 9 years old she would constantly get into trouble for cutting up her clothes to make new outfits for her and her sister's barbie dolls. With no experience or a sewing machine, she would hand sew many beautiful dresses and outfits for her dolls. As she grew out of her barbie doll phase, her passion for sewing barbie outfits faded and though she never gave that much dedicated attention to sewing, her passion and love for fashion never faded with time. She graduated from LSU with a bachelors in Sociology and continued on to work with many non-profits including the March of Dimes, and also worked with adolescents on anger management.
One unfortunate trip in 2009 resulted in a loss of all of Rema’s favorite belongings, so she asked her then mother-in-law to show her how to use a sewing machine. From this experience, she learned how to make the most basic stitchings and within 3 days she had sewn up her first dress. In 2016, she and her husband decided to get a divorce and she knew going back into the workforce was not going to be the best option, so she started LeVoile Collection - a clothing line focusing on modest wear. After years of trial and error, struggling with the right niche of customers, manufacturing mishaps, etc. she finally rebranded to something that felt more authentic to her and aligned better with what she wanted to offer her customers. Thus came into existence, Aparellel - the adaptable clothing line for woman of all shapes and sizes to look and feel their best. Drapey fabrics that fit and flow: sizes 6-26, high quality fabrics made right here in San Diego to not only feel great in, but to feel great about.
While building a brand may have looked effortless from the outside, starting a business as a single mom with no resources or funding was anything but easy, especially during a pandemic. Thanks to great customers who loved Aparellel, it still managed to keep going and thriving.
